Curicó, June 6, 2010

Dear family, friends of the mission, dear brothers and young people in training how are you? I hope good!
In these early days of June as brothers and friends of St. Anthony's remember and thank the Lord for the gift in the midst of this great and holy man. We send our mission a fraternal and cordial greetings and remind you all with affection.

I come to you to tell you a bit 'of our lives to Curicó three months after the terrible earthquake that struck our country and our region in particular. First I must tell you that the aftershocks are still many and sometimes quite strong. We and the people we are getting used to living with the various earthquakes that occasionally scare us and make us dance a little.

Here the situation is "normalizing." All are rebuilding their homes or settling, at least for the winter so decent and peaceful as possible. I have a lot of inconvenience to the people: first the concern of their homes - many now live in small wooden houses (the size of small house is 3x3 meters). These apartments have been distributed by the municipality and several families also use what is left of their homes. Secondly, the hospital in our city is settled in tents and with the winter cold is certainly not the best thing for the elderly or ill housed in tents. Thirdly, it is true that all schools have resumed their activities, but different structures are seriously damaged or falls, and for this there are many emergency rooms.

I would like to thank the many monasteries that have worked on this project and a special thanks to Anthony's Charities who helped significantly. The Lord through the intercession of Saint Anthony bless you and protect you always giving you peace of heart.

For the life of our parish (see here for some photos) , after the warm welcome we received and fraternal, in these first months we are offering our Franciscan spirituality. end of March we made an afternoon of training with all the pastoral agents, they might know a little ' most of our founder, St. Francis. Now we are proposing, and presenting the figure of Saint Anthony. We here (at least from our people, not accustomed to the style Franciscan) you know St. Anthony to find lost things and all come to mind the words of the song: I wish to San Antonio Puesto de cabeza, ya no me busca novio no me interested (I put St. Anthony with his head down, meeting a boyfriend if you do not look no more). For this as a religious community we decided that this year we propose the saint as a friend of the poor and protector of children. Awareness for Anthony at this time is reduced for all groups, offering a brief catechesis the saint's life and his message of good, in close connection with the gospel and that turns into love. We give a small picture and then through the typical signs of St. Anthony: baby Jesus, the Gospel and lily will help parishioners to know a little about 'the life of our saint. Certainly, June 13, the feast of St. Anthony, we give glory to God for the witness of the Holy and invite all the faithful to have recourse to the saint to intercede with the Lord. A special celebration will be offered to many children of the parish. With the youth group are preparing some dramatizations of the miracles of St. Anthony: the miracle of the fish, the mule, the jealous husband, and we finish the whole setting ... under the protection of the Holy all children. A simple and humble meeting in order to know a bit 'more of our beloved Holy, and to share with our parishioners half a day of brotherhood, peace and prayer values \u200b\u200bmuch needed in this time of post earthquake.

Before leaving I want to share with you what we experienced last Saturday in our chapel of St. Lucia. the night of February 27 due to the earthquake in the chapel, falling broke a statue of the Madonna. Recalling the words of a brave and kind benefactor who had offered me when I was in Italy the statues of the Virgin for the mission, I asked him if could help us. At the end of April came two beautiful statues thanks to the generosity of his entire family on Saturday May 29 with a Eucharistic celebration we felt blessed and shared one of the two statues. The attendance was good despite the rain (actually it was thought of pilgrimage with the statue along the neighborhood poor and particularly problematic, but because of the rain was not possible). Listening to the people who were present it was felt gratitude for the great gift and great joy to get back in the chapel of the Mother of Heaven, the Virgin Mary, who always loves us, helps us and protects us.

often comes from my heart a sincere thank you becomes a prayer for the many small and important gestures of affection and closeness of friendship, I thank each of you! Dear friends I will not dwell further, and ask for all that the Lord through the intercession of Saint Anthony to accompany us on the journey of life, can help us always to fulfill His holy will, and help us to experience in our lives the peace of the Lord.

I end and I greet you fraternally with the word of the Holy Seek peace, seek peace inside yourself, and if you will, you will no doubt peace with God and with others, and pursue it (conquistala) with final perseverance. ( Sermon on Sunday after Pentecost V)

All good feast of St. Anthony e. ..
Paz y bien
