Curicó, February 22, 2010

Dear family, friends of the mission, benefactors,
I write a few lines to tell you the first steps of our fraternity Jesús de Nazareth in Curico.

A few days ago we arrived in this beautiful city of the Seventh Region of Chile (and I fr. Pedro we arrived on February 9 and fr. Giuseppe us haul 16). From now on we began to clean the house: to give the plaster to all rooms, put the little chapel, buy furniture (almost all) ... days of intensive work, with some minor discomfort, but otherwise nothing particularly unbearable.

Now we are good gaming and the house is warm, a beautiful chapel, a small but organized kitchen, well appointed rooms and quiet (as you can see from the photos). With us, the Friars of the community, this week was also Elias (our postulant) and two days, even Manuel (young in vocational research) that have helped us to assemble furniture, do the deep cleaning and to keep the various little things (valued presence in these early days of bedding).

Next Sunday February 28 at 12 am there will be the official entry of our fraternity in the presence of the parish of Talca Vescoco Curicó-Mos. Horacio Valenzuela, will be attended by fr. Mauritius as CEO and guardian of the convent of St. James and Fr. Franco (Franciscan missionary arrived in Chile in early January) as representative of the convent of Copiapo.

The parish
Jesús de Nazareth, not far from our house (10 minutes by bicycle). The first and timid with parishioners (yesterday I went to greet my father's predecessor, Jorge) are good, people are and how easy it is natural to feel some pain for the departure of their pastor that they love him, but at the same time I received a warm welcome, joy for the arrival of a Franciscan religious community and in their parish.

I do not know what else to say, after two weeks of pure manual labor with one or more strokes here and there, with some broken glass in your travels, with the joy of starting a new adventure for our Mission of Chile and the Paduan Province of Friars Minor Conventual, I feel good and proper to entrust the first steps of our presence so that the good Father in heaven, our presence in this land may always be a witness to the Gospel and Franciscan.

Finally, I wish, with this letter, thank you on behalf of our community and Curicó by the mission of Chile, for vicinaza, affection and prayers to the Lord raised these days for us and even for the generous donations that we received.

Dear friends, I greet you with big hugs and as always the Lord bless you and give you peace of heart, the right path of Lent to each of you.

¡Paz y bien!

fr. Tullio, fr. Pedro and Fr. Joseph
